Within the framework of the Ground Forces subordinated to the Territorial Procurement Center (TCC), the investigation of the circumstances of the incident related to the journalist Yevhenii Shulgata from the publication "Slidstvo.Info" has begun. Colonel-General, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ordered an official inspection of employees of the TCC and social support of the Solomyan district of the city of Kyiv in connection with allegations of abuse of official position. It is noted that employees of the TCC illegally interfered in the activities of the journalist, trying to restore the material about the head of the cyber security department of the SBU, Ilya Vityuk.
The colonel-general emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine condemn any violations by servicemen and promise to take appropriate measures after the inspection is completed. He also thanked the journalists for their contribution to protecting the information space of Ukraine from Russian propaganda.
The press service of the Ground Forces confirmed the official inspection, and the "Slidstvo.Info" editorial office received a request, which they promised to answer in accordance with the requirements of the law.
Against this background, the non-governmental organization "Mediarukh" calls on the military-political leadership of the country to investigate this incident in detail and to consider the possibility of initiating criminal cases against employees of the SBU and the TCC. The authors of the article "Internal Front. Who and why is putting pressure on anti-corruption journalists and activists", Inna Vedernikova and Tetyana Bezruk emphasize the importance of fighting corruption and emphasize the role of journalism in this process.
