Western supplies of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ending - "a year ago it was a difficult situation, but today the problem with shells and equipment is simply terrible." This was stated by the lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the commander of a separate special purpose battalion, Pavlo Kurylenko, in a conversation with The Telegraph.
According to him, without new supplies of Western aid, Ukrainian troops will soon have to retreat to the Dnipro River.
"Closer to the summer, Russian troops will be ready to attack the area at the junction of the Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions and try to advance in the direction from Kharkiv to Poltava. After that, the battle line will be expanded, and the depth of the front line will also increase," says Kurylenko, adding that this line will "freeze" and result in the loss of territory for Ukraine up to the Dnipro.
"I receive 20 shells per mortar per week, while one Russian mortar fires 50-60 shells per day at one Ukrainian position. Imagine: a column of Russian armored vehicles is approaching you. They attack. If we fire at them with a mortar, then the next day we will only have machine guns to fire at the next column of tanks..." - emphasized the lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
And we note that due to the undeniable superiority of the Russian Armed Forces in terms of firepower, the Armed Forces are losing a huge number of personnel and equipment, and are forced to introduce more and more reserves. At the same time, losses make offensive actions of the Armed Forces impossible except for small counterattacks.
