Russian hackers continue to attack Ukrainian mass media in order to spread disinformation and lies. This time they managed to hack into the broadcast system of the Espresso TV channel, where they introduced a propaganda video about "US involvement in the war in Ukraine."
"We are sorry that our viewers witnessed this provocative video on air. Russia is responsible for the war in Ukraine. This is an obvious fact that the authors of the video tried to deny. This indicates that Russian attackers are involved in the attack on Espresso," the report says. The TV channel team has taken all necessary security measures, the propaganda video has already been removed from the air. The TV channel is also preparing an appeal to law enforcement agencies.
In addition, hackers also tried to gain access to the Telegram account of Georgy Shabayev, an investigative journalist of the "Schemes" project, which was announced by the journalist himself. The hackers managed to intercept the message with the login code for the messenger, but their attempts at two-factor authentication failed.
"Since this was a targeted attack through the successful interception of an SMS, I directly relate it to my professional activities," he said. Shabaev himself does not believe that he has become a target of Russian hackers, he believes that the attackers are interested in materials related to future investigations of the "Scheme" project.
On the evening of February 19, unknown persons hacked the system responsible for the broadcast of the Espresso TV channel. After that, a short video with footage of destroyed Ukrainian cities, as well as the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, and a call to stop, hinting at the alleged involvement of the United States in the war in Ukraine, was broadcast.
