In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have uncovered a scheme to illegally import cars under the guise of humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Bureau of Economic Security, a group of individuals organized the sale of cars through online platforms, bypassing customs payments.
According to the investigation, the group included heads of several charitable foundations and organizations. When crossing the border, they declared the cars as humanitarian aid for the army, submitting documents with false data to customs. In reality, the cars were sold to third parties through online advertising platforms.
BEB detectives conducted a test purchase of one of the cars, which confirmed the illegal scheme. The payment was received by a person who had no connection to the charitable activity.
As part of the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted searches at the residences of the suspects, on the territory of the car service, and in vehicles. Property worth over UAH 4.3 million was seized, including almost UAH 3 million in cash, 4 cars, and counterfeit banknotes worth $9,500.
The investigation is ongoing, identifying all participants in the scheme and their involvement in illegal activities.
