Without the capture of Pokrovsk and Myrnograd, it will be impossible for Russian troops to advance towards the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. This was stated by military expert Serhiy Zgurets on the Espresso TV channel.
According to the analyst, the occupiers are concentrating their forces in this direction, because without control over Pokrovsk and Myrnograd it is impossible to implement the plan to advance to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. At the same time, Ukraine is also transferring reserves, in particular the "Skelya" assault regiment, which arrived from the northern regions and is fighting for settlements.
Zgurets reported that Russia has brought up 3-4 brigades of marines and airborne assault troops, which are being transferred from the eastern flank, to hold the area near Dobropillya. There, Ukrainian forces are conducting counterattacks from the west, while the invaders are trying to gain a foothold from the east.
According to the expert, the further situation will depend on the battles near Dobropillya. If the enemy manages to break through the defenses, he will be able to advance from the north to Pokrovsk, cutting off logistical routes and developing an offensive in the direction of Druzhkivka. This will create a threat to another section of the front.
Despite the numerical superiority of the Russians in manpower, Ukrainian counterattacks from the east are holding back a significant part of their units. " Everything will depend on the skill of our commanders and the dedication of the military, in particular the assault units, which are demonstrating miracles on the battlefield ," Zgurets emphasized.
The analyst predicts that the occupiers will try to enter Pokrovsk from the north. At the same time, he noted that the city is in a state of semi-encirclement, and the outcome of the fighting near Dobropillya will directly affect the further nature of the actions of Russian forces around Pokrovsk.
