The Kyiv Economic Court of Cassation overturned the previous court's ruling, which allowed development of the territory where a 20th-century industrial architecture object is located - the so-called "Holosiivska Tower".
According to the NGO "Heritage", a panel of judges headed by Oleksiy Sluch satisfied the cassation appeals of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Kyiv City Council. Earlier, the appeals court recognized an additional agreement for the development of the territory of a cultural heritage site, which could pave the way for its destruction.
Activists note that the "Holosiivska Tower" is the dominant and highest point of the Holosiivskyi district. Since 2023, it has been included in the List of Cultural Heritage Sites of Kyiv. The tower has great potential for revitalization and can become an observation deck, similar to examples in many European cities.
Monuments' guardians emphasize that the confrontation in the courts continues: the prosecutor's office seeks to return the tower to state ownership and achieve its restoration. Previously, the developer tried to recognize an additional agreement to the lease agreement as valid, which effectively opened the way for the development of the site and the demolition of the tower.
