In Ukraine, the protection zone around the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Pirogov has been restored. Earlier, the court declared the order of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which reduced the boundaries of the protected areas, illegal. In order to implement the decision, a new order No. 849 was issued, which approves the scientific and design documentation defining the boundaries and modes of use of the protected areas.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the restoration of the protected zone protects the surrounding land from chaotic development that could damage the natural landscape, the museum's exposition, and wooden monuments from the 16th to 20th centuries. The new order guarantees the preservation of the museum as an object of national and world cultural heritage.
The National Museum in Pirogov is one of the largest open-air ethnographic museums in Europe. It houses over 200 authentic structures from different regions of Ukraine, showcasing traditional housing, outbuildings, and crafts of the Ukrainian people.
The restoration of the protected area will ensure long-term protection of the museum's cultural values and unique natural area.
