A military accountant was exposed in the Zhytomyr region for embezzling over 800,000 hryvnias from the salary fund of a military unit, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
According to the investigation, for seven months, the official entered false information into financial documentation, allegedly accruing additional payments to one of the servicemen. At the same time, the funds that were supposed to go to these payments were actually transferred to the accountant's personal bank account.
Thus, the perpetrator embezzled over 800,000 hryvnias of state funds. Investigators are currently working to return the stolen money to the state budget.
The accountant was reported as suspected under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for misappropriating property on a particularly large scale during martial law. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
