The newly appointed director of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration, Maksym Buchenko, purchased a 2025 Jetour X70 Plus car worth 1.09 million hryvnias.
According to the Absolution detective agency, the purchase was made through LLC "Ukravto on the Ring Road". For this, the official made two large payments: 436 thousand hryvnias and 730 thousand hryvnias. The latter amount included both the vehicle itself and the "Full CASCO" insurance package, issued on credit at PrivatBank.
Buchenko took over the department in June of this year after the dismissal of the previous head, Ruslan Svitly. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko appointed him as acting director until August 31.
At the same time, the official previously appeared in criminal cases. In December 2024, he was served with a suspicion of receiving a supposedly fictitious disability. In addition, the SBU established that the department had a long-term scheme of embezzlement of budget funds. According to the investigation, providing assistance to citizens with incurable diseases and other social programs could have become a cover for the embezzlement of almost 57.7 million hryvnias.
Currently, Buchenko continues to serve as the director of the department, while the investigation into his possible involvement in corruption schemes continues.
