The most dangerous alcoholic beverages for the body are not hard alcohol, but carbonated cocktails and champagne, according to British doctor Simran Dio.
According to the expert, it is carbon dioxide that accelerates the process of alcohol entering the bloodstream, which leads to much faster intoxication. Therefore, drinks like gin and tonic or champagne have a more intense effect than vodka or whiskey.
Interestingly, the specialist called the widespread belief about the dangers of mixing different types of alcohol a myth. From a physiological point of view, this does not affect the speed of intoxication. The problem, he said, is rather a loss of self-control: a person drinks more than usual, and the consequences become more severe.
Dio also advised never to drink on an empty stomach, as studies show that blood alcohol concentration can be four times higher than after eating.
The doctor emphasized that even a small dose of alcohol can cause harm if the body is not prepared. Therefore, it is important to consume alcohol carefully, and you should be especially wary of carbonated drinks.
