On the night of September 17, Russian forces used drones to attack infrastructure facilities in Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions. The enemy strikes caused fires, but fortunately there were no deaths or injuries.
The head of the Cherkasy OVA, Ihor Taburets, reported that the enemy was targeting critical infrastructure in the region. Part of the attacks were repelled by air defense forces, destroying 11 UAVs. The fires that broke out after the hits were quickly extinguished by rescuers.
According to the State Emergency Service, in Kirovohrad region, drones hit objects in Kropyvnytskyi district. Fires were recorded at three locations, and more than 60 rescuers and 14 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing them.
The head of the Kirovohrad Regional Administrative Organization Andriy Raykovych clarified that the regional center and 44 settlements of the Oleksandrivska community were left without electricity. Several private houses were also damaged.
In addition, the Russians have struck at the railway infrastructure. According to Oleksandr Pertsovsky, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, trains in the Dnipro direction are delayed due to a power outage.
Military analyst Andriy Kramarov emphasized that the attacks on the Ukrainian railway are of a terrorist nature and are aimed at preventing the evacuation of civilians from dangerous regions.
