Relations between Ukraine and the UK have been in crisis since the Labour government came to power. According to The Guardian, sources in the Office of the President of Ukraine are expressing disappointment with the British government's refusal to provide additional long-range missiles, which are so necessary for conducting combat operations against Russian aggression.
The position of the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, differs from the policy of the previous government of Rishi Sunak. Kyiv, in particular, expresses dissatisfaction with the lack of support in the form of new supplies of Storm Shadow, which, according to Ukrainian diplomats, makes Starmer's visit to Kyiv meaningless unless agreements are reached to replenish the stocks of this important weapon.
“Starmer is not giving us long-range weapons. The situation is not the same as during the prime ministership of Rishi Sunak. Relations have deteriorated,” sources in the OP note, adding that if the British prime minister does not promise improved support, his visit may be perceived as a formal gesture that has no real impact on the situation on the front.
Currently, the uncertainty in Britain's position raises the question of whether the Starmer government will be able to impress Kyiv and restore the level of trust that existed under the previous government.
