The Lviv Oblast Prosecutor's Office has reported a new suspicion to a 29-year-old woman, who is already in custody on drug charges. She is accused of establishing and spreading criminal influence both inside and outside prisons.
Earlier, law enforcement officers established that the suspect was part of an organized criminal group of four people who established a methadone supply channel to the penal institution. It is important that even after her arrest and without the possibility of posting bail, the woman continued to exercise criminal influence.
The investigation recorded that, while in the colony, the suspect acquired the status of the so-called "supervisor" - an informal leader among the prisoners. She established rules of conduct, demanded their observance and punished violators physically or morally. At the same time, she controlled the distribution of funds from drug sales, filled the "common fund" and resolved conflicts among the prisoners.
According to law enforcement officials, the woman fundamentally adhered to "thieves' traditions" and deliberately violated the prison regime, which only strengthened her position in the colony. This was the basis for bringing a new suspicion against her - under Part 2 of Article 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (establishment and spread of criminal influence).
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department and the Security Service of Ukraine. The operational unit of Lviv Penitentiary No. 19 is also involved in the case.
