In the fall, Ukraine is expected to increase electricity prices for businesses, but tariffs for the population will remain at the current level. This was reported by the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP).
On October 1, the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Power Generation of Ukraine (NKREKP) will consider a draft resolution that envisages revising the maximum prices on the day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets. The purpose of this decision is to create conditions for importing electricity from European countries, which will help compensate for a possible deficit during the autumn-winter period, especially in the context of Russian shelling of energy infrastructure.
As explained by the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Power Generation, the changes are aimed at balancing the Ukrainian energy system and ensuring stable electricity supply for all categories of consumers. At the same time, the regulator assures that the price increase will not affect tariffs for the population, which will remain fixed until May 1 next year.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko also confirmed that electricity tariffs for household consumers will not be revised until spring 2024.
