The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court left unchanged the decision of the court of first instance, which declared assets worth almost UAH 3.3 million, which were used by the head of the South-Eastern Interregional Department for the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice, to be unfounded.
The basis for the court decision was the results of monitoring the official's lifestyle conducted by the NACP, as well as materials collected by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
As established by the NACP, in 2023, the official's daughter purchased a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. At the same time, the actual user and manager of the car was the official of the Ministry of Justice, while his official income did not allow him to purchase a vehicle of such value.
An analysis of the family's income showed that there were no legal sources for acquiring the said property. On this basis, the court of first instance declared the assets unfounded.
The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and dismissed the defendant's appeal. The decision entered into force from the moment of its announcement.
