Ukrainian rapper and producer Oleksiy Potapenko (Potap), who currently lives mainly between Spain and the USA and only occasionally visits Kyiv, presented a fragment of a new song in Spanish — Toma Toma. The short video on Instagram was shot on a basketball court: the artist in sportswear jokingly raps and moves to the rhythm of the track. There is no full version on YouTube yet — it looks like a teaser for the upcoming premiere.
The audience's reaction was sharp. In the comments, users talk about "Spanish shame", reproach "superficiality" and the use of "a few Spanish words for the sake of hype". There are remarks like "when I learned two words and recorded a rap from it", "cuckoo-cuckoo - that's the whole track", "it's more like Brazilian funk", as well as reproaches related to the artist's life abroad during wartime. At the same time, some viewers admit: "I understood more than from previous hits", and call the release an "unexpected turn".
Potap has been actively working on foreign projects in recent months, and the Spanish-language material could mean a bet on new markets. It has not yet been announced when the full version of Toma Toma will be released and whether it will be part of a wider release.
