A high level of pressure from Russian troops is being recorded throughout the Pokrovskoye direction. The main target of attacks remains the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration. This was reported by a serviceman of the 68th Jaeger Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign "Gus".
According to him, the enemy regularly combines different tactics of fighting. From time to time, Russian troops carry out mechanized attacks using ATVs, motorcycles, as well as armored vehicles - tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. In parallel, the tactics of small assault groups are actively used.
The military also commented on the weather conditions at the positions. According to him, the cold has been really noticeable over the past few days, but the units have the opportunity to warm up and are provided with the necessary conditions for duty.
Earlier, the deputy commander of the 4th operational battalion "Force of Freedom" of the Rubizh brigade, Volodymyr Nazarenko, commented on the situation in the same direction. Back on December 20, he noted that in the Pokrovsky direction, Russian troops are suffering losses ten times greater than those of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to him, this indicates the effective use of available weapons, as well as the high level of training of the Ukrainian military.
Nazarenko emphasized that the enemy has much greater resources, so in conditions of such an advantage, tactical cunning, high-quality use of weapons, as well as professional skills and accurate calculations of drone operators play a key role.
At the same time, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War previously reported that Russia could theoretically try to capture Pokrovsk and surround Mirnograd by the end of the year. However, according to experts, even if Pokrovsk is lost, this would not lead to an immediate collapse of the entire Ukrainian defense in the Donetsk region.
