The President of Ukraine and his office announced that they will not turn to the Constitutional Court to confirm the legitimacy of the presidential rule. In an interview for "Babel", the legal adviser to the head of the President's Office, Iryna Mudra, noted that the initiative to go to court has a Russian narrative, which was expressed during a meeting of the UN Security Council by Russian representative Vasyl Nebenzei.
Mudra noted that the Russian representative emphasized the need for the Ukrainian authorities to go to court to confirm the legitimacy of President Zelensky, but the Ukrainian authorities do not intend to do so because of the danger to Russian interests.
In addition, Mudra talked about the political consultations that took place in November 2023 within the framework of the Jean Monnet Dialogue. At these consultations, it was agreed that elections in Ukraine would be held after the end of the war, and the parliament would develop a special law on their holding. According to Mudra, this approach takes into account the norms of the Constitution and previous agreements between parliamentary factions, and therefore the president has no reason to appeal to the Constitutional Court.
