The prosecutor's office exposed large-scale abuses in the Kharkiv region: 27 people are suspected of causing losses worth tens of millions

The Prosecutor General's Office announced a large-scale anti-corruption operation in the Kharkiv region. 27 people were exposed, including former officials, heads of municipal and private enterprises, as well as businessmen. According to the investigation, their actions caused losses to the community of almost 45 million hryvnias.

Among those involved is a former deputy mayor of Kharkiv, who, together with the heads of a municipal enterprise, organized the purchase of water pipes at inflated prices. The losses from this scheme reached 7 million hryvnias.

In Lozova, the director of a private company and the management of the locomotive depot overstated the cost of building repairs, which cost the budget another 860 thousand hryvnias. Other directors embezzled funds during coal deliveries or signed fictitious road repair documents.

Investigators found that the state registrar of the Malodanylivska village council illegally changed the company's founders and appointed a "new director." The owner with foreign investments lost a share worth 8.4 million hryvnias.

Some officials in Kharkiv fictitiously employed 16 people, some of whom received military service reservations. The deputy director of a municipal enterprise used their bank cards and embezzled over 3 million hryvnias.

A Kharkiv businessman illegally stored waste for years, causing damage to the soil worth 4.8 million hryvnias. In the Bogodukhiv district, the director of the municipal enterprise allowed the discharge of harmful substances into the river, the damage was estimated at 400 thousand hryvnias.

The heads of enterprises arbitrarily occupied land, in particular a plot worth over 10 million hryvnias in Kharkiv, where they arranged a parking lot. In another case, they seized land from Ukrzaliznytsia and built facilities without permits.

The largest losses were recorded in the education sector: the director of the society misappropriated almost 7.5 million hryvnias allocated for technical documentation for the construction of shelters in schools. The head of the education department of the Chuhuiv city council also caused losses of over 1.4 million.

In medicine, an unscrupulous contractor caused losses of 1.3 million, and in the “October Forestry Farm” the former acting director sold forest products without prepayment, which cost over 5.5 million hryvnias.

In addition, purchases of electricity at inflated prices, violations during the installation of heating equipment, as well as illegal production of tobacco products for sale were recorded.

The prosecutor's office emphasized that the suspects are involved in criminal proceedings under articles of embezzlement, abuse of office, raiding, crimes against the environment, tax evasion, and negligence. A petition has been prepared for the court to impose preventive measures and remove them from office.
