Singer Nastya Kamensky has once again found herself at the center of a language scandal. This time, it was because of a video of a morning run that the artist posted on social media, adding text in Spanish. This caused a wave of misunderstanding and criticism from Ukrainian subscribers.
In the comments under the post, users asked why the singer was addressing the audience in a foreign language and why there was no Ukrainian translation. Some said they were unfollowing the artist, noting that her career and popularity originated in Ukraine.
Among the reactions under the post are both surprise and harsh criticism:
“ Why are you writing in Spanish? Spain knows nothing about you .”
“ Nothing is clear, I would have written in Ukrainian .”
“ That’s it? This profile is already for a different audience? ”
“ Did you forget where you made money? ”
However, part of the audience came to the singer's defense. Some believe that the linguistic claims are exaggerated and that creative experiments are an artist's right.
" They want to get rid of the best singers in Ukraine. Nastya is a beauty and a talented artist, but things are not the same for our people ."
" Mood is your weapon, don't let it break ."
The controversy also partly touched on old criticism that Kamensky used to actively use Russian, but now switches to Spanish. At the same time, many fans remind that the singer actively works for a Latin American audience, so she can speak in different languages.
Despite this, the post became another reason for discussions about the language of public figures, the responsibility of artists to the Ukrainian audience, and new vectors of their careers.
