The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olga Stefanishyna, at the presentation of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas until 2030, emphasized the importance of the agricultural sector, which accounts for 62% of the country's foreign exchange revenue generated by exports in 2023.
Stefanyshyn noted that Ukrainian agriculture continues to work effectively, supporting the economy and guaranteeing food security not only in Ukraine, but also in various countries of the world. In particular, a significant part of Ukrainian agricultural products is exported to the countries of the European Union, where the free trade zone operates.
According to the vice-premier, the support of the European Union, which includes autonomous trade preferences and expanded logistics capabilities through the "Paths of Solidarity" initiative, is important for the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
Stefanyshyn also noted that for the first time Ukraine is proposing a strategy for membership in the European Union, which involves becoming part of the EU internal market. She emphasized that the implementation of the agricultural development strategy will help to achieve European standards, increase exports, create new jobs and increase competitiveness.
Stefanishyna expressed confidence that the implementation of the strategy will increase the productivity of the agricultural sector, stimulate the production of goods with added value, and also ensure stable and safe growth of production in Ukraine.
