In the Kyiv region, a child's game with weapons ended in tragedy

The tragic incident occurred on August 23 in the Boryspil region. According to the Kyiv region police, a 7-year-old boy got his father's hunting rifle into his hands. The child began playing with the weapon, which resulted in a shot that fatally wounded a 6-year-old neighbor.

At around 4:00 p.m., police received a report that a girl had been found unconscious in one of the houses with a hand injury. Despite the efforts of doctors, the child could not be saved.

The boy's father was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers opened several criminal proceedings: on the fact of intentional murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Procedure Code), as well as under articles related to malicious failure to fulfill obligations to care for a child and negligent storage of weapons (Articles 166 and 264 of the Criminal Procedure Code).

The police are investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy.
