A surgeon from a private clinic who performed breast plastic surgery on a patient despite her having cancer will face trial in Kyiv, the capital's police reported.
The investigation established that in September last year, a Kyiv woman went to a medical center for breast correction. During the examinations, a neoplasm was discovered in the area of the planned intervention. However, the 30-year-old surgeon did not refer the woman for additional diagnostics or consultation with an oncologist. Despite obvious contraindications, he performed the operation.
The police note that this led to the progression of the oncological process and a significant deterioration in the patient's condition.
The surgeon was previously informed of the suspicion. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, the indictment has been submitted to the court. If the physician is proven guilty, he faces up to two years in prison.
