According to the investigation, in 2025, the suspects organized a meeting with the victim in a cafe in Kryvyi Rih under the pretext of discussing business issues. During the incident, one of them distracted the security guard, while the other led the businessman to the VIP hall. There, the attackers, hiding their faces, tied up the man and, threatening him with weapons, took him to a private house in one of the villages of Kryvyi Rih district.
According to law enforcement officials, the victim was illegally detained for three days, demanding the transfer of a significant amount of money. Also, according to the investigation, he was subjected to physical violence and other actions in order to force him to comply with the demands. Later, fearing exposure, the suspects left the man in the field and fled.
In November 2025, both suspects were detained. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office . The indictment was submitted to the court on the facts of illegal deprivation of liberty and extortion.
The sanctions of the incriminated articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The final legal assessment of the actions of the accused must be provided by the court.
