Today is the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and International Literacy Day.

On September 8, believers celebrate one of the greatest Christian holidays according to the new calendar - the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary . According to Tradition, after many years of prayer and fasting, Saints Joachim and Anna received a blessing from God - their daughter Mary, who became the mother of Jesus Christ. The birth of the Virgin Mary symbolizes purity, the beginning of a new stage in the history of salvation, and the victory of faith and patience.

This day is popularly known as the Second Holy Day . Many signs are associated with it: a clear morning portends a warm autumn, and a strong wind - the approach of rain. It was also believed that those born on this day were lucky with pearls - a stone that was attributed healing properties.

What is forbidden to do

Traditionally, believers avoid heavy physical labor, sewing, or knitting. They also avoid arguing or swearing.
