US President Donald Trump said he has a specific plan for the end of the war in Ukraine. He told about it in an interview with The New York Post . In order to implement his initiative, Trump instructed national security advisor Mike Wolts to organize meetings that should be the first step to implement his plan.
“I hope it will be fast. People die every day. This war in Ukraine is very bad. I want to put this land, ”Trump said, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
On board the presidential aircraft, addressing the adviser Mike Voltz, Trump emphasized the tragedy caused by the war:
“Let's arrange these meetings. They want to meet. People die every day. Young beautiful soldiers are killed. Young people like my sons. On both sides. All over the battlefield. ”
He reinforced his words with an understanding of the pain and losses that people in Ukraine and Russia through a long conflict.
Before that, Trump reported that he had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Trump, the purpose was to find the opportunity to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Although there are no negotiations with the Kremlin head, the very fact of the conversation raises many questions. In particular, whether these steps Trump are able to lead to peace, whether it is only part of his political campaign before the election.
Trump's statement about the peace plan became another political message, which sounds against the backdrop of criticism of his actions in foreign policy. Trump has repeatedly stated that he was ready to resolve the issue of war in Ukraine "in 24 hours" if he returned to the post of President of the United States.
At the same time, many experts doubt the effectiveness of Trump's initiative, because his attempts to negotiate with Putin in the past were often accompanied by criticism because of excessive flexibility in relation to Russia.
If Trump's plan really exists, then the first meetings initiated by Mike Voltz can be expected in the coming days. However, the main question remains whether the Kremlin will agree to a dialogue, which provides for a real cessation of hostilities.
