The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, reported on contacts with the team of US presidential candidate Donald Trump. According to Zelenskyi, Trump assured him of his readiness for any discussions and even provided his telephone number for communication.
Zelensky noted that in July, Ukrainian officials also contacted the teams of other US presidential candidates, including Kamala Harris. He revealed this information in an interview with the Japanese state broadcaster NHK, stressing that Trump openly declared his availability for any questions.
Trump, in turn, commented on his telephone conversation with Zelensky, which took place on July 20. In an interview with the Fox News channel, Trump said that he emphasized the need to end the war in Ukraine, adding that the conversation was constructive. He also expressed his vision of the Russian army, calling it a "military machine" with experience in warfare, recalling victories over Hitler and Napoleon.
It is worth noting that the thesis about "victory over Hitler" is part of Russian and previously Soviet propaganda. It is known that the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany was achieved with significant help from the Allies, especially the United States.
In addition, Trump accused the current US president, Joe Biden, of having allowed a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Trump claimed that it could have been easily prevented and expressed confidence that President Putin would never have dared to take such actions under a different US leadership.
