A new breakthrough occurred on the main water supply near the village of Domazhyr near Lviv. The emergency situation arose on Saturday, October 25, just a few hours after the completion of previous repair work at the same location. Due to the repeated accident, residents of the western districts of Lviv were again left without water supply.
On the morning of October 25, Lvivvodokanal repair crews completed the repair of the previous section of the pipeline and began filling the system. However, during the start-up, the pressure at the pumping stations suddenly dropped - a new breakthrough occurred in another part of the water pipeline in Domazhyr. As a result, residents of Zaliznychny and Shevchenkivskyi districts have been without water for the third day.
First Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko reported that the leak occurred on the other side of the river from the previous accident site. Emergency crews, Lvivvodokanal management, and city council representatives arrived at the scene.
The utility company noted that they were faced with the largest challenge in recent decades:
"Even veterans of our enterprise do not remember such a situation, when part of the city remains without water for three days in a row," Lvivvodokanal said.
Repairmen are working around the clock, many of them without rest for the second day. The company called on Lviv residents to be understanding of the situation and not to blame the workers, who are doing everything possible to stabilize the water supply.
Let us recall that on October 23, due to a previous accident on a 600 mm diameter water pipe in Domazhyr, about 160 streets in Lviv and 13 surrounding villages were left without water.
