In Kovel, a man will be tried for a car smuggling under the guise of humanitarian aid

In the Volyn region, a large -scale scheme of illegal importation of used cars from Europe was exposed under the guise of humanitarian assistance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The organizer of the equipment was a 36-year-old Kovel resident. As reported on July 4, 2025 in the Volyn border detachment, the case was already transferred to court.

According to the investigation, a man systematically purchased a car in Poland and other EU countries. For their import into Ukraine, he used the requisites of the Charitable Fund, which allowed him to avoid customs payments and taxes. In the documents, these machines were stated as humanitarian assistance for the Armed Forces, but were subsequently sold for cash in the domestic market.

During the year, the attacker managed to import 11 cars totaling more than UAH 2.1 million. During investigative actions, the operatives of the Volyn Border Detachment together with detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security and SBU staff documented one of the facts of the vehicle.

During the searches at the place of residence of the person, as well as on parking lots, law enforcement officers found and seized two cars that are currently under arrest.

The man was suspected under Part 1 of Art. 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of goods) and Part 1 of Art. 209 (legalization of proceeds of crime). The indictment was transferred to court.
