In the Kyiv Detention Center - the largest institution of this type in Ukraine - a stable criminal group, which operated with the participation of both prisoners and part of the staff. This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
During 2024, investigators documented systemic violations: torture, beating, extortion, illegal drug trafficking and game business. All this happened under the cover of individual detention center staff, including physicians. He managed the scheme of the so -called "watch", which was supported among the employees of the institution.
Among the most resonant cases are the death of one of the prisoners after a brutal beating, which happened after partial personnel changes in the pre -trial detention center. The suspects - five prisoners - were brought the man to the yard and beaten to hemisphere. The detention workers knew about it, but did not help, forged the documents and only the next day sent the victim to the hospital. He died on December 28.
In the framework of the DBR investigation, it was suspected:
-
5 prisoners - for causing grievous injuries that caused death;
-
8 SIZO employees , including inspectors, regular, doctors and senior in buildings. They are charged with excess of office, service negligence, abandonment, failure to provide assistance, forgery and complicity in a crime.
The suspected prisoners have already been transferred to other institutions, and the process of precautionary measures is ongoing about employees.
This is not the first case of torture in the Ukrainian pre -trial detention center. Earlier in Poltava a similar scheme was exposed, where the detention workers were systematically tortured by prisoners. They face up to 12 years in prison.
Against this background, another tragic incident - the murder of the military Valentin Kozlyuk in Kramatorsk. His widow states that the man shot a battalion commander for refusing to give some of the combat payments.
These cases demonstrate a dangerous trend - ignoring human rights in institutions designed to provide justice and security.
