Kyiv is experiencing a significant deterioration in air quality caused by forest fires in the Kyiv region and seasonal temperature fluctuations. According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, these factors led to an increase in pollutants in the atmosphere.
The probable reason for the temporary deterioration of the air condition in the capital is the forest fires in Dubechansky, Novosilkivskyi and Fenevytskyi forestry of the Kyiv region, as well as seasonal temperature changes. This was announced in the press service of the Ministry of Environment on Friday. The department urged, in particular, to drink more water and turn on the air purifier to the maximum.
A temporary worsening of the air condition is recorded in Kyiv. The probable reason for this is forest fires in the Kyiv region and seasonal temperature changes. According to the data of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", localization and liquidation of fires in Dubechansky, Novosilkivskyi and Fenevytskyi forestry continues in Kyiv region
The department indicated that in most cases, the cause of forest fires is careless handling of fire: discarded matches or matches, building fires and careless use of them, work in forest areas (garbage disposal, construction), as well as burning grass in forest clearings.
In addition, an increase in the level of atmospheric air pollution is observed every autumn, because temperature differences during the day and night cause temperature inversions, which in turn cause the accumulation of harmful substances in the surface layer of the air, added the Ministry of Environment.
Warm air and humidity lead to fog, harmful substances from various emission sources are almost not dispersed.
To improve the situation and protect health, the Ministry of Environment recommends:
- close the windows;
- minimize being outside;
- drink more water;
- if there is an air purifier, turn it on to the maximum.
The state of the air and the radiation background can be monitored in real time on the website of the Ministry of Environment "Ekozagroza".
