Preventive power cuts will be installed in the capital of Ukraine during possible missile attacks by Russian troops. This was stated by the CEO of Yasno Serhiy Kovalenko in an interview with the Ukrainian mass media.
Kovalenko explained that the power grid system works as a serial chain, and if one of the links fails, it can lead to overloading and damage to equipment at substations or power plants.
He also reminded that it is usually possible to adjust the volume of generation with the help of TPP and CHP, but in the summer shelling significantly damaged the thermal generation, so other objects are used for maneuvering.
When asked whether the lights will be turned off every time due to the threat of rocket fire, Kovalenko replied that such measures will be taken when necessary for the safety of the energy system.
