The State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at the deputy of the Kyiv City Council Dmitry Bilotserkivtsi. Investigative actions were carried out in the framework of checking the origin of cryptocurrency worth $ 30 million.
The searches took place in the home of Belotserkivtsi, where he lives with his family, as well as in his mother's house. Representatives of the DBR acted in masks, which became the subject of criticism by the UDAR party, the co -chair of the faction of which is Belotserkivtsi in the Kyiv City Council.
The party declared systematic pressure on the opposition forces by the central government. In particular, it is about illegal removal of local mayors, interference with local self -government bodies through military administrations and the use of law enforcement agencies for political persecution.
The "UDAR" regarded the DBR's actions as an attempt by political pressure and declared violations of the rights of local government representatives, which, according to the party, became a target because of their own position.
The searches took place against the background of political tension in the Kyiv City Council. The day before the deputies tried to release the secretary of the Kyiv City Council Volodymyr Bondarenko, who appears in the case of land corruption as a witness. In spite of the unsuccessful vote, Bondarenko himself filed a resignation, which was supported.
As of now, the DBR does not officially comment on searches or procedural prospects for digital assets. It remains unclear where it was from Belotserkivtsi that cryptocurrencies could appear to such an amount, but the fact of investigative actions indicates the increased attention of law enforcement officers to digital finances among Ukrainian officials.
