In the Lviv region, a scandal has unfolded related to violence against children in an educational rehabilitation center, where the director of the institution is suspected of committing cruel acts. This was reported by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
"I received information about possible physical, psychological and sexual violence against children by the director of an educational and rehabilitation institution in the Lviv region," he wrote.
The institution houses orphans, children deprived of parental care, children in difficult life circumstances, and children with special educational needs.
The ombudsman reported that the children's statements were recorded that the director of the institution performed sexual acts against the female educators of the institution, publicly humiliated him, and also threatened to beat him and commit him to a mental hospital for "bad behavior" or violation of the daily routine.
He also noted that during the year, children and other persons applied to the National Police, the local service for children and the Department of Education, but did not receive any response.
"We summoned representatives of the National Police of Ukraine and the Prosecutor's Office to the scene and forced them to start documenting the facts of the violation in our presence," Lubinets wrote.
All the children who testified have been moved out of the facility and are safe.
