In the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainians set a record by opening 74,050 new FOPs. This is 33.6% more than the same period last year and 18% more than before the full-scale invasion in 2021.
Kyiv region and Dnipropetrovsk region were noted for the largest growth of new businesses. Companies that specialize in trade, provision of individual services and development of information technologies predominate among them.
Kyiv continues to demonstrate its leading position in the number of new enterprises in recent years. In the first quarter of 2024, 10,252 new companies were registered in the capital alone, which is 13.8% of the total number. The second place in terms of registered businesses is occupied by Dnipropetrovsk Region with 6.8 thousand new FOPs. Kyiv region ranks third with 5.7 thousand new individual entrepreneurs.
Retail trade remains the most popular industry over the past four years, accounting for a quarter of newly registered businesses. The provision of individual services and the development of information technologies were also among the most popular areas of business among Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
