Growth of the average salary in Ukraine
According to Danylo Hetmantsev, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Finance Committee, the average salary in Ukraine increased by 17.5% in 2023. However, the real growth was only slightly more than 4% due to inflation, devaluation of the national currency, and rising prices for goods and utilities, which offset income growth.
Experts note that the average salary level is a conditional indicator. A more objective calculation is the median, which takes into account the distribution of income and is usually 15-30% lower than the arithmetic mean. This is the approach to calculating average salaries used in the EU and the USA to avoid manipulation of statistics.
The National Bank previously stated that the average wage in Ukraine increased significantly in the first quarter of 2024, showing a growth of 22.5%.
