Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported the suspicion to the former head of one of the departments of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service (GU DPS) in the Zhytomyr region, who, according to the investigation, had been illegally receiving wages for two years, almost without showing up for work.
As the publication "Law and Business" notes, the tax official signed a contract with the voluntary formation of the Dnipro urban territorial community in June 2022, but he did not actually start the service.
Taking advantage of the formal status, the taxman was relieved of his duties and stayed at home. Despite his absence from the workplace, he continued to receive wages, the total amount of which during this time reached about 700 thousand hryvnias.
The official was dismissed from his post, and he is currently charged with taking someone else's property by deception under martial law, which is qualified under part 4 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides imprisonment for a term of up to 8 years.
The investigation also examines the possible involvement of other officials of the State Police Department, who for two years did not check the actual completion of the suspect's service in a voluntary formation, which allowed him to receive a salary without performing official duties.
