During a speech in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi drew attention to a disturbing trend: more and more students of 10-11 grades, in particular boys, are leaving the country. This situation is caused by a number of factors that require urgent discussion and resolution.
"As for departure. I share your anxiety. We observe how many children, especially boys, go abroad in the 10th and 11th grades. We encourage them to stay in Ukraine in various ways," Lisovyi said.
The minister believes that quality education can force children to stay in warring Ukraine.
He says that Western universities, which Ukrainians enroll in, are no better than domestic ones, and in general, Western education is "mythologized" in many respects.
We will remind you that boys from the age of 17 must register for the military. The Cabinet proposes to fine them if they do not do this. And from the age of 18, boys can no longer go abroad.
Therefore, many parents try to send their sons abroad before they turn 18 or even 17 years old. Hence the large exodus of boys from high school, about which the Minister of Education speaks.
