The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhii Kyslytsia, stated that Ukraine seeks an end to the full-scale war, but will not agree to peace at any price. He emphasized that the concept of "peace at any price" will not lead to lasting peace and will only become an incentive for the aggressor to continue violating international law.
Kyslytsia noted that the implementation of the concept of "peace through strength" is the only effective way to stop the aggressor and ensure a just and durable peace in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. According to him, the diplomatic path to peace is possible only through the implementation of the "Peace Formula" presented by Ukraine.
Ukraine is ready to consider peace initiatives of other countries, but only if they take into account the restoration of the country's territorial integrity, are based on the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine" and do not equate the victim with the aggressor.
Kyslytsia also emphasized Russia's geopolitical ambitions, which, in his opinion, are not limited to Ukraine. He emphasized that the Kremlin's ultimatum regarding the return of NATO to the borders of 1997 is evidence of these ambitions. Kislytsia added that this should be remembered by the countries that became members of the Alliance after that time.
These statements were made against the background of the discussion of peace talks regarding Ukraine, in particular, in the context of the statements of former US President Donald Trump, who believes that the war can end in a few months, but closes the door to NATO for Ukraine.
