Ukraine has an ambitious plan to mobilize another 200,000 recruits by the end of 2024, The Times , citing the words of Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Defense. However, achieving this goal is becoming an increasingly difficult challenge for the country.
According to the newspaper, the mobilization campaign is facing difficulties in implementing the plans. "The goal of 200,000 may be increasingly necessary, but it is also becoming increasingly difficult to achieve," the article says. One of the representatives of the Territorial Center for Procurement and Social Support (TCC) in Odesa noted that the region is significantly lagging behind the set goals: "We are not mobilizing even 20 percent of what is needed. Odesa region is one of the worst on the list."
To support mobilization, Ukrainian military units received new tools that allow them to mobilize reservists and conscripts who voluntarily wish to serve. This became possible thanks to the changes made by the Cabinet of Ministers to the procedure for conscription of citizens for military service during mobilization. In particular, the commanders of military units now have the right to issue referrals for passing the military medical commission (MMC), which allows determining the fitness of mobilized people for service.
In October of this year, the Ministry of Defense also plans to launch a new service in the "Reserve+" application, which will significantly simplify the recruiting process. Thanks to this update, relevant vacancies in military units will appear, which will allow future recruits to find their place of service faster.
