In his evening address on August 21, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke about the current situation at the front, in particular in the Pokrovsky direction. He noted that Ukraine understands the actions of the Russian military in this region and strengthens its positions accordingly.
"There have already been several reports by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. The front is our position, first of all it is the Pokrovsky direction, our Donetsk region. We understand the steps of the enemy and strengthen ourselves. An inspection was carried out regarding the supply of shells. And it is very important that the partners really fulfill their obligations," said Zelensky, emphasizing the critical importance of the partners fulfilling their promises regarding the supply of weapons. According to him, this is a fundamental aspect for the effective defense of Ukraine.
The President also drew attention to the military operation that Ukrainian forces are conducting on the territory of Russia, in particular in the Kursk region. Zelenskyi confirmed that the hostilities there continue, and the Ukrainian military continues to take the necessary steps to control the designated areas.
In addition, he thanked the Ukrainian military for the successful replenishment of the exchange fund, which will allow the use of captured Russian soldiers for the return of Ukrainian citizens from Russian captivity. This aspect is an important part of the prisoner exchange strategy, which aims to return home as many Ukrainians as possible.
