The administration of US President Donald Trump has approved the sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) air-launched missiles to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials.
According to the publication, the decision was made last week. Delivery is expected in about six weeks. The range of the ERAM is from 240 to 450 km. At the same time, Ukraine will need separate approval from the Pentagon for their use.
Previously, the Joe Biden administration transferred hundreds of ATACMS missile systems to Ukraine starting in 2023. Initially, their use on Russian territory was prohibited, but in the fall of 2024, the restrictions were lifted after North Korean troops entered the war on the side of Russia.
The last batch of ATACMS arrived in the spring of 2025, and, according to officials, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have only a small stockpile of such missiles left.
President Donald Trump previously stated that he had no plans to transfer long-range JASSM missiles to Ukraine and stressed that Kyiv should not launch strikes on Moscow.
According to the WSJ, the Pentagon has been blocking Ukraine's use of long-range systems for attacks on Russian territory for several months. At least one request from Kyiv to use ATACMS against a target in Russia was rejected. The reason for the rejection is said to be the White House's desire to preserve the possibility of peace talks with Moscow.
