According to the information published by the American TV channel CNN, Ukraine, despite the successful halting of the Russian offensive near Kharkiv, remains far from completely ousting Russian troops from its territory.
Western weapons are enough to restrain the Russian Federation, but not enough to radically change the situation, said an officer of the 148th separate artillery brigade with the call sign "Senator".
He pointed out that Russia, as before, "has complete superiority in the air over Ukraine."
Now Kyiv is counting on the supply of F-16 fighter jets. However, according to military expert Konrad Muzyka, it is far from a fact that the planes will bring huge changes.
"The F-16s are fighter jets from the 1980s and 1990s, and their capabilities are worse than the most modern Russian fighter jets," he said, adding that the latest Russian jets are likely to outmatch the F-16.
He also believes that the current situation at the front is not only a consequence of aid delays, but also "the result of those decisions that were made and not made in Kyiv, especially when it comes to mobilization."
According to Muzyka, the mobilization was intensified "too late".
"Ukrainians will be in a very difficult situation until August-September, when the first mobilized will begin to arrive at the front. If they can get to this point, there is a high probability that they will be able to stabilize the situation from August, but until this happens, it is quite likely that Russia will achieve new successes," the expert said.
He also says that Ukrainian plans and strategy are unclear.
"It is not clear what the plans are. What is the counterattack strategy? The problem is that Ukraine is waiting for what equipment the West can supply it, and the West is waiting for what plans Ukraine has for the future," he said.
