Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan, who won a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, shared her wedding plans with her lover, Italian fencer and Olympic champion Luigi Samele. In an interview with Liga Life , the athlete said that she dreams of celebrating an important event this year.
Harlan admitted that while her first wedding (to Ukrainian saber fencer Dmytro Boyko) was steeped in tradition, this time she's planning a more modernized ceremony. However, some key Ukrainian traditions will definitely be present.
“I think I'll take a towel. But we will miss some traditions. For example, Luigi considers the tradition of washing the legs of the mother -in -law quite strange. He said, 'interesting, but no', " - said Olga with a smile.
Samele respects Ukrainian culture and agrees to some traditional elements, but the couple decided to combine Ukrainian motifs with a more modern approach to the celebration.
Olga and Luigi met during Harlan's first marriage. They became a couple after his divorce in 2018. Last year, Luigi proposed to her, and now the couple is ready to make their relationship official.
In addition to her personal successes, this year was also special for Harlan in terms of sports. At the 2024 Olympics, she won bronze, defeating South Korea's Choi Sibin, and became the author of the first medal for Ukraine. Moreover, the Ukrainian women's fencing team, which includes Harlan, Olena Kravatska, Alina Komashchuk and Yuliya Bakastova, won gold in the team competition.
The couple has yet to reveal the details of the celebration, but it is known that Olga strives to create a unique atmosphere that will combine Ukrainian soul and Italian charm. Her modern approach to the wedding promises to be bright and unforgettable.
