The Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEB) advocates the introduction of a local natural gas market in Ukraine, reports Deputy Head of the Exchange Committee of the UEB Inna Shcherbyna.
According to Shcherbyna, in other European countries there are local gas markets that help ensure the correct price signals, thereby reducing price risks.
"We believe that such a local market should be created in Ukraine as well. In this regard, the support of the stock market in Ukraine should be based on four factors," said Shcherbyna.
As the first factor, she indicated the need to ensure liquidity, the introduction of the obligation to sell a certain share of gas on the stock exchange, as well as the obligation to purchase gas. The second factor is the standardization of products on the market, the third is the mandatory execution of agreements that will form the basis for price indicators, and the fourth is the quotation of exchange rates.
"Our proposal is this, and I hope that someday it will be heard, because we have been talking about it for years," Shcherbina added.
