On the night of November 9, 2024, Ukraine suffered a massive attack by enemy drones: the enemy launched 51 attack drones, among which were Iranian "Shahed" and devices of an unknown type. The main impact fell on the Odesa region, but the threat also spread to other regions of the country, creating danger for critical infrastructure and the civilian population.
According to information from the Air Force Command of Ukraine, defenders successfully destroyed 32 drones over eleven regions. Among them are Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Ternopil regions. Another 18 drones that were recorded in the airspace of Ukraine were lost during the raid, as they were out of sight of the Ukrainian air defense systems.
Night air battles once again showed the ability of Ukrainian air defense to protect the country from new threats. Ukrainian forces effectively repelled the attack, ensuring the safety of key facilities and the population under martial law. This achievement demonstrates both the importance of modern air defense systems and the skill of the Ukrainian military.
Despite the efforts of the aggressor, the strength of the Ukrainian defense remains strong, because daily tests only harden the experience of Ukrainian soldiers who continue to hold the defense and prepare for new challenges.
