According to the information of the Ukrainian intelligence, it was known about the plans of the Russian occupiers regarding the attack on the territory of the Kharkiv region. The relevant authorities were informed about this threat, but despite this, the enemy was able to launch an offensive and capture some border areas.
Andrii Yusov, representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, reported this on the air of the telethon.
"It can be said that the enemy's actions in this direction began according to a schedule that was known and informed about. As it is the responsibility of the Main Intelligence Directorate, all the necessary authorities and their management were informed," said Yusov.
According to him, there are ongoing battles in the Kharkiv region, in which special forces of the GUR are also taking part.
"Now the enemy is suffering heavy losses. It is clear that all the necessary information is made public by the General Staff, in particular," the intelligence officer added.
Yusov noted that the occupiers threw soldiers of the Moscow and Leningrad military districts into the Kharkiv region. He turned to the Russians and called for surrender. The representative of GUR noted that there are already such cases.
"Taking into account the scale of the situation with the Russian group, including their losses and future ones, a decision was made to open an additional camp for Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine as soon as possible," Yusov said.
What is happening in the Kharkiv region
On the night of May 10, the Russian occupation forces launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region. The invaders tried to break through the positions of the Armed Forces in the area of the city of Vovchansk.
The defense forces repulsed the enemy attack, but the fighting in this direction continues. At the same time, the occupiers are shelling Vovchansk. As Oleksandr Syrskyi, the head of the Armed Forces, reported, the situation in the Kharkiv region has worsened.
According to the Ukrainian military, there is currently no threat to Kharkiv. Probably, the Russian Federation wants to pull Ukrainian forces and reserves to other areas of the front.
