The unsuccessful performances of the Ukrainian men's biathlon team at the World Cup have consequences for future competitions. According to the updated policy, starting next season, Ukraine will be able to send only four representatives to the races.
According to the final results of the Biathlon World Cup season, the Ukrainian national team took 11th place in the overall standings of the Nations Cup. With this result, she is outside the top 10, so according to the rules of the World Cup, next season the team is allowed to field only four athletes at the start.
Previously, Ukraine usually sent five biathletes to the race, but due to unfavorable results, the number of participants will have to be reduced.
It should be noted that the winner of the Cup of Nations by a large margin was the Norwegian national team. Germany overtook France to take second place. Sweden and Italy are also in the top 5.
In past seasons, the Ukrainian national team was already outside the top 10. For example, in the 2022/2023 season, it took 9th place, and in the 2023/2024 season, the team lost its position in the top 10, losing to Slovenia.
It should be noted that the rating of the Cup of Nations is formed on the basis of the results of sprint, individual and relay races.
