The Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin testing domestically produced guided aerial bombs (UABs) in a few weeks.
Serhii Golubtsov, chief of aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this. He noted that work on the conversion and creation of modified air bombs based on conventional free-falling bombs is currently underway.
Serhii Golubtsov explained that these bombs have certain design aspects: it is necessary to select a wing, a GPS module and a control module.
"In a few weeks, we have to start the first tests of the first batches of such bombs, already Ukrainian," Golubtsov added.
According to him, the Air Force of the Armed Forces currently uses Western-made anti-aircraft guns: GBU-39, GBU-62 of various calibers. Golubtsov also reported that currently the Armed Forces use 100 to 300 high-precision foreign aerial bombs per month, while Russia uses 3,000 per month.
Russia attacks the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine every day, using, in particular, guided aerial bombs. Every month, more than three thousand such CABs arrive on the territory of Ukraine. In May alone, Russia dropped 3,200 of these shells on our country.
