In recent days, the issue of Ukraine's possible accession to NATO began to be discussed with new force on the international arena. However, according to high-ranking officials, no official discussions were held regarding Ukraine's accession to the Alliance without the liberation of territories captured by Russian troops.
This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister for European integration Olga Stefanyshina. According to her, Ukraine will be invited to the Alliance only within the borders of 1991.
The official added that the issue of Kyiv's invitation to NATO "is not being discussed at all, neither (in the context of) advancing on the front, nor the territories."
Stefanyshyn also says that Ukraine's membership in NATO is possible only after the end of the war, but now Kyiv is seeking an official invitation to the Alliance.
Earlier, Western publications wrote that Ukraine could be accepted into NATO in the event of a war freeze on the front line. Yesterday, Zelensky confirmed that such a scheme is proposed by some officials of the Alliance countries, but Kyiv does not agree with it.
